"Cold Heart" is a unique story that has captured the hearts of both children and adults around the world. This cartoon became the highest-grossing in the history of Disney studios, and fees exceeded the billion-dollar mark-previously only Toy Story 3 managed to do this. How was this project created, and how is it unique?
Cold Heart: a history of creation
Back in the 40s, Disney Studios decided to dedicate one of the paintings to the famous poet and writer Hans Christian Andersen. Choosing among a variety of works, preference was given to "The Snow Queen". The project was repeatedly changed, postponed and finalized, until 2000. And only after the release of "Rapunzel: A Tangled Story", the creators again started working on the cartoon.
The main task was to make the story interesting for the modern viewer, and therefore the characters have undergone some changes. Elsa, the older sister, embodies both the features of Kai and the Snow Queen, and Anna – Gerda. The creators note that the famous fairy tale inspired them to create this project, but did not become its basis.
The film was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, who have already done more than one successful job. They worked out everything down to the smallest detail, doing not only directing, but also writing the script, as well as musical accompaniment. The creation of the cartoon took several years, and some shots were worked out for several days.
The uniqueness of "Cold Heart" is also in the fact that it is not a hand-drawn cartoon, unlike most Disney projects. Frozen characters were created using computer animation, which allowed them to really "revive" them.
